Manifesto

What I’ll do for you (My 3 ‘F’s)

Feedback
  • Lobby for all assessment feedback to be strictly returned within three weeks, including for study abroad students
  • Use the Partnership Scheme to create more opportunities for verbal feedback following assessments
  • Staff to empower students to set up informal student-led seminars for students of the same and different levels to meet up and peer review work
Fairness
  • Campaign for better workload balance between 10 and 20 credit modules
  • Focus on splitting assessment fairly between essays and exams within modules
  • Lobby for more efficient essay hand-in events to avoid late submissions
Facilities and support
  • Lobby for more convenient library opening hours
  • Lecturers to help students prepare for jobs after graduation by linking studies to employability
  • Better PCs and advertising of 24-hour clusters
  What I’ve done already

  • This year I’m School Rep for Non-European Languages and have helped to save a module from not running, changed the Learning and Teaching Strategy for a School to deliver faster feedback, and arranged for more student involvement in the changes to modules following module reviews
  • Fought for students in meetings at all levels of the University, including the Senate. I am also Chair of the East Asian Student-Staff Forum so I have experience creating agendas and leading discussions
  • Through my previous two years as a Course Rep, and this year as an Intercultural Ambassador and a Japanese Society committee member, I have developed strong relationships with staff across the University, and will continue to work in partnership with students and staff to instigate the changes you want to see
